Swan are majestic birds that are known to have beautiful snowy feathers and long graceful necks. The adult male is called a cob. The female swan is referred to as a pen.

Swans can fly as fast as 50 to 60 miles per hour. They are among the largest flying birds. The typical weight of a swan is up to 15kgs and height while standing can reach up to 4 feet. Some swans are known to have a wing span of 10 feet.

Swans were nearing extinction in the 1930s in the U.S. However, their numbers have increased due to steps taken to protect them.

Visually the most noticeable difference between the male and female swan is size, unlike many other animals where the male and female are colored differently

Their beauty is one of the reasons for them to be considered as a royal bird in England.
